A ladle that just was

I was foraging in the forest when I came upon a branch from a hickory wattle tree. It had been torn away by a bigger tree crashing to the ground and there in front of me was a bent section of the branch, perfectly shaped for making a ladle.
At every stage of carving this ladle I was reminded of the tree, whether from the shape, the earthy smell of tannins coming from the heartwood or the beautiful grain.
And so it seemed right to reference the tree from where it came in some way.
Hickory wattle ladle with carved leaves finial and a kolrosed (wood tattoo) branch and leaf pattern.
A one off. Carve by axe, knife and hand.
